THE NEED

‘Twas not some solemn rituals;

Nor a boring priestly talk,

Caused Youth to walk away from Him

And against their faith to balk.

It’s this world which we have made here,

Modern choices that we’ve given

To them, our youthful offspring,

‘Til by confusion they are riven.

Perhaps their alienation

Made them rebels, just to spite

Their elders who had failed them

When they tried to see Life’s light!

Young folk do seek stability,

Loving discipline and real hope --

And some guidance with life’s problems,

If they’re to learn to cope.

So, instead of leaving them to drift

In life’s river-choking weeds,

Can’t we just spare a little time

To help them with their needs?

Let’s aim to share their problems

And to listen, and explain;

Then without pontificating,

Help them know God’s love again.
