THAT DAY ON CALVARY

A hallowed land – Now torn by war and strife;

Land which so many years ago did see

God’s son, who taught and preached and gave His life

To save the world – That Day On Calvary.

A Son of God, whose footsteps paced the land;

Who spoke kind words of love around old Galilee;

Who kindled in men’s hearts a faith that spanned

The world when He shed blood – That Day On Calvary.

Yet now, where He taught love and shared His bread,

A holocaust does thrive within those lands, and men do see

Each morn on narrow streets blood flow the red

Of hate. Unlike His blood – That Day On Calvary.

A holy land! A heritage! When will its people see

Why blood was shed for all mankind – That Day On Calvary?
